Musa Rabiu is a graduate of Economics (BSc & MSc) from Ahamdu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He is currently doing a doctoral research in business administration at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. His research topic is “Strategic decision-making processes in Career Management within the Nigerian oil and gas industry”. Musa has over two decades of experience in Human Resource Management practice having worked with Shell in Nigeria, in the Netherlands and in a number of other countries with Shell presence.
He specialises in business strategy, organisational development, career management, learning and development, performance management, leadership development including coaching and mentoring. He has consulted for the Federal Ministry of Works, National Sugar Development Council and Security and Exchange Commission. He is currently the HR consultant to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigeria’s national oil company. At NNPC, he is charged to develop and implement dual career paths for both management and technical progression, coaching and mentoring to support the young professionals. Musa is facilitating the delivery of a major project (i.e. the skill pool management) across all business units in NNPC.
]He was (2008-2010) the Registrar/CEO of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN), the regulator of HRM practice in Nigeria. He is an elected Council member of CIPMN and a Fellow and the deputy Vice President of Institute of Business Development of Nigeria. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Petroleum Technology Development Journal and Chairman, Continuing Education Committee, Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria (IMCON), Abuja chapter. He is a life member of Nigerian Economic Society and member of Nigerian Institute of Training and Development, International Coaching Federation, Society of HR Management and American Society for Training and Development.
He has run training prorammes in Shell Nigeria and Gabon as well as in NNPC to impart skills in competence assessment, coaching and mentoring. He is a training facilitator with CIPMN on diversity and inclusiveness, HR metrics, coaching and mentoring and performance management topics. He has also provided training to employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Federal Inland Revenue Services and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (tetfund) in career management and succession planning, conflict of interest and interest alignment and leadership effectiveness skills. Musa designed, developed and facilitated delivery of the pioneer basic management consulting training workshop to 34 management consultants in 2012.
Musa is married with children.
